Frederick Friendship Park & Municipal Campus

The township maintains a 25 acre municipal park that surrounds the township building located at 3205 Big Road. The park is in the process of being updated in 3 phases thanks to the assistance of a prior Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) grant. Completed phase 1 and 2 features the Frederick Friendship Park Playground, shade trees, parking lot, a pavilion with grills, picnic tables and a walking/running trail with stationary exercise equipment along the path’s course. Plans for future phase 3 include extending walking trails and installing footbridges. The park is bordered by a split rail fence that runs along the front and side property line and was funded partially by local businesses and completed as part of a local Eagle Scout project.

Upper Frederick Township Community Day

The township’s Municipal Park is also home to the township’s biggest annual event which is held the last Saturday every September, the Upper Frederick Township Community Day. Heading into its 12th year in September of 2017, Community Day is hosted by the township and partially funded by participating businesses to provide its residents and friends the opportunity to find out about many non-profit organizations and groups available to the community, such as:

  • The Goschenhoppen Historical Society
  • Mid-Atlantic MedEvac helicopter
  • Montgomery County Public Library Bookmobile
  • Plymouth Community Ambulance
  • Several Montgomery County 4-H Clubs
  • UFT Fire Department

There’s also a township-sponsored shredding truck for township residents to shred their confidential documents free of charge.

Affordable Family Fun

Community Day also offers families and friends with a day of affordable fun and entertainment, including pony rides, a giant hamster ball, laser tag, rock wall and bungee trampoline, inflatable obstacle course, a petting zoo, free kid’s crafts, face painting, live music, a used book sale and more! To top off the event, we offer a variety of great food, our ever-popular chili cook-off and free door prizes donated by generous local businesses. We hope you can join us this year, so bring some chili to enter in the contest and make this an annual event for you and your family.
